Ben wants No Bake Cookies to put in the Santa cookie jar. This is a recipe that my family made as children, the original from the Quaker oat box. I think the ingredients were something we always had on hand, and you need very little time. No one in our house was known for thinking ahead.
My sister, Leola, has kept this recipe alive. I'm not sure if she just likes them, they are quick, or if she doesn't like to bake cookies (that’s my excuse).
Now she makes them because of the gluten-free aspect.

Leola adds peanut butter to the recipe. I have included both.
1 cube butter, 4 oz
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup cocoa
2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
Bring to a boil the butter, milk, cocoa, sugar and salt. Boil 2 minute from the point of a rolling boil. Remove from the heat and add oats than vanilla. Stir quickly, the mixture will start to set up.
Drop by teaspoons onto waxed/parchment paper. Makes 24-3" cookies.
Cool and enjoy.
Cut the cocoa down to 1/4 cup. Add 1/2 c peanut butter with the oats and vanilla. Leola feels the peanut butter cuts some of the richness from the cocoa.
