BEER BREAD

This came from a friend in the RHS on the QMB, Lianne Paschette from Florida. Ben and I think making our own bread is fun.

3 1/2 cups flour
3 Tbs sugar
1 Tbs baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
12 oz. beer
1 egg beaten

375 degree oven
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Add beer and stir with a fork until just combined. Turn dough onto a floured surface, knead quickly to form a ball. Place bread on baking sheet and confidently slit an X on top with a serrated knife.
Brush loaf with egg wash. Bake until golden brown, about 45 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

I thought it might need more salt, but with butter its just right.
Do it in the Kitchen Aid with the dough hook.
